FAQs
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that focuses on strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, and enhancing postural alignment. It emphasizes core strength, controlled movements, and mindful breathing, making it suitable for all fitness levels.
What should I wear to a Pilates class?
Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows for easy movement. Avoid overly loose clothing, as it can interfere with movement or get caught in the equipment. Grip socks are recommended for reformer Pilates to help with stability and hygiene. We carry grip socks in house at our Pilates studio!
Do I need experience to take a Pilates class?
No experience is necessary! At Seoul House Pilates, we welcome beginners and provide personalized instruction to meet your current fitness level. Our private sessions allow for a customized approach, so you can feel comfortable and confident, whether you're just starting or an experienced practitioner.
What is the difference between reformer Pilates and mat Pilates?
Reformer Pilates uses a specialized machine with springs and pulleys, allowing for greater resistance and support during exercises, while mat Pilates is performed on the floor using body weight for resistance. Both focus on core strength, flexibility, and controlled movements, but reformer Pilates provides more versatility in exercise variations.
Can Pilates help with injury recovery?
Yes, Pilates is known for its rehabilitative benefits. It can aid in recovery by improving core strength, flexibility, and balance while reducing strain on injured areas. However, please consult with your doctor or physical therapist before starting if you are recovering from an injury.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require a 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Any cancellations made within less than 24 hours will result in the session being charged in full.
Can I do Pilates while pregnant?
Yes, Pilates can be a great exercise option during pregnancy, but we recommend discussing it with your doctor first. We offer prenatal modifications to ensure a safe and effective workout tailored to your trimester and body.
What equipment will I use during a session?
In our private reformer sessions, you’ll be using a Pilates reformer machine. Depending on your needs, we may also incorporate other Pilates equipment such as the tower, chair, or props like resistance bands and small weights.
